Safety is partly about the software and partly about how you obtain and install it. Dynamic FPS is an open-source project, but you still need to distinguish legitimate project files from unrelated uploads and match the correct build to your instance.
Use recognized project distribution files
Avoid random reuploads that rename the mod or bundle additional software. This independent site only uses the supplied project archive as its download destination and does not host a modified executable.
Source ZIP versus compiled JAR
The main ZIP linked here is a source archive. It contains project source rather than a normal drop-in mod file. For ordinary gameplay installation, a compiled release matching your environment is the appropriate file type.
Review dependency requirements
A legitimate build can still fail if a required dependency is absent. Read the requirements for the exact release and loader rather than copying a list from a different Minecraft version.
Back up worlds and profiles
Before changing a modded instance, back up worlds and important configuration. A backup is cheap protection against mistakes that have nothing to do with Dynamic FPS itself.
Quick check
- Confirm the Minecraft version.
- Confirm the loader family.
- Confirm required dependencies.
- Test with a minimal mod set if behavior is unclear.
Test updates separately
For large modpacks, duplicate the instance and test updates there first. This makes it easier to distinguish a Dynamic FPS issue from a conflict elsewhere.
Privacy and battery integration note
Some Dynamic FPS features can use additional runtime components depending on settings. If you do not want optional battery integration behavior, review and disable that feature in the mod settings.
